Warmer Weather Boosts Your Mood

The weather is warmer, the days are starting to get longer, and we are feeling good about ourselves. But why is that? Springtime is the time of rebirth and to start new and for many customers at Wellspring Custom Pharmacy, it is a time to feel better. One of the main reasons our moods lift when the seasons change from cold to warm is because we are getting more light and absorbing a larger amount of vitamin D. Vitamin D has many functions in the body, and this includes maintaining good bone, brain, and heart health. Low Vitamin D levels have been proven to be linked to depression, and this can include seasonal depression. This is because there are receptors in the brain that need this vitamin that are responsible for mood and behavior. The more sunlight you get, the more vitamin D can be absorbed through your skin, making you a happier, healthier person.

When someone is feeling happy, they are more likely to take care of themselves physically and mentally.  The warm weather makes it easier to exercise and to eat healthier too, as spring vegetables are fresh and ready this time of year. As it gets warmer, we can start doing things outdoors, like planting our gardens for the summer, going on hikes, or even enjoying a picnic with friends. All these activities have been proven to help improve our mental health, and none of them could be possible without warm weather. While vitamin D has been proven to help with depression it will not completely cure it. It is up to you to get outside and start soaking up the sun. At Wellspring Custom Pharmacy, in Ontario, Ohio, we understand that not everyone can spend their days out in the sun, and that is why we offer our customers vitamin D supplements that can help boost their intake. This mixed with getting even a small amount of sunlight everyday will help you to feel your absolute best, and that is our goal.
